2 killed in shooting at Burlington store in Los Angeles

after the death of two Gunshots went off during last-minute holiday shopping at a Burlington store in Los Angeles on Thursday, officials said.

An officer who approached the retailer in North Hollywood opened fire, but it was not immediately clear whether either of the deaths was linked to a law enforcement response, said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Hector Guzman said.

“During the incident, one of our officers fired with a weapon,” he said.

Police initially placed one of the suspects in custody after reports of gunfire at the shop shortly before noon.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said one man and one woman were killed. The latter was taken to the trauma centre, it said.

Police insisted that there was no active shooter at the location.

The investigation was going on. Additionally, when LAPD officers fire it triggers an internal inquiry as well as an investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Burlington Stores did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
