2 charges against Alberta woman dropped in Coutts border blockade case | globalnews.ca

Two charges have been dropped against a woman involved in last year’s blockade at the Canada-United States border crossing in Coates, Alta.

A prosecutor has dropped charges of possession of a weapon and mischief causing property damage against Joan Persson.

The man, who is from Coutts, is still facing a charge of dangerous driving in connection with the protest and is due to appear in provincial court next month.

Police have said that a pickup truck passed through the blockade in February 2022 and was involved in a head-on collision.

Protesters occupied the border crossing for 18 days in protest against the COVID-19 measures.
