A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and strangled to death by an unidentified man near Amod town in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. The police gave this information on Wednesday.
A police officer said that the victim’s body was found on Monday evening.
He said the post-mortem was conducted at Bharuch Civil Hospital and the report said that the girl was raped before being strangled.
The girl had left the house on Monday afternoon to get firewood and did not return till evening. They said she was found dead in a cotton field.
“A case has been registered against the unidentified accused under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act,” the official said.
He said senior police officials visited the spot and separate teams from local crime branch, special operations group and others have been formed to nab the accused.
