100 students of Himachal Pradesh will get one lakh rupees for coaching

One hundred meritorious students will be provided financial assistance up to Rs 1 lakh by the Himachal Pradesh government for taking admission in prestigious institutions of higher education under the “Swarna Jayanti Super-100” scheme for the academic session 2021-22.

The government has asked all the deputy directors of higher education to send the names of the top 3,000 students appearing in the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education’s Class X merit list. The last date to apply for the grant is December 31.

Only students of class XI and XII from government schools in the state can apply under the scheme, which aims to help students secure a place in premier medical, engineering, management or information technology institutes or NDAs. Sources said that any student transferring from a government to a private school will be liable to refund the amount.

The applicant should be a bonafide resident of Himachal and shall be free to choose the coaching institute of choice, subject to the center having five years experience in the area. Minimum 75 percent attendance will be mandatory in the coaching institute and students will have to submit monthly attendance certificate to their schools.

Officials said the grant cannot be spent on electronic gadgets like mobile phones, laptops etc. Initially, Rs 30,000 will be paid through direct bank transfer, for which a utilization certificate will have to be submitted, officials said.
