The Association of Families of Flight PS752 organized a global event on Sunday with rallies in more than 100 cities around the world.

In North Vancouver, thousands attended and showed their support for the group’s cause.

The association said its mission is to unite the families of the victims and provide justice.

Hamidreza Borghei spoke to Global News on Sunday. He lost his sister and several other family members, including a six-year-old child, in the crash of Ukraine Airlines flight PS752.

“I lost my sister, her husband, her husband’s sister and sister’s daughter,” he said.

Borghese said that he and his family were some of the first civilians to arrive at the crash site.

“We got the coordinates of the place where the plane crashed. We went to a village in the middle of the desert. We were one of the first civilians whose relatives were on the plane,” said Borghi.

“They won’t tell us where they took the remains.”

On Sunday, crowds gathered in Ray Sargent Park and marched down Lonsdale Avenue to Shipbuilders Square, where a main event took place.

Arman Abtahi, one of the organizers of the North Vancouver rally, spoke to Global News. In this incident he lost his brother.

“The name of this rally is ‘Nyay ki Jeet’,” he said.

“We are here to join the revolution in Iran and we want to be a voice of unity for help, justice and freedom.”

Organizers said they believed more than 5,000 people were present at the North Vancouver rally on Sunday afternoon.

BC Premier David Abbey was also in attendance.

“I think you can see with the number of people gathered here, British Columbians are deeply concerned, not only with the downing of Flight 752 and the unanswered questions of the families, but what is happening on the streets of Iran at this very moment. “

AB made a special announcement on Sunday afternoon. The BC government along with the City of North Vancouver has pledged $100K to build a memorial honoring the victims of Flight 752.

on Sunday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed condolences To the victims and families of Flight 752.

“The entire Canadian family shares in your grief,” Trudeau said.

“On this day and every day, we will be here with you.”

Trudeau said the Canadian government, along with its international partners, was “taking concerted action to ensure that Iran is held accountable for its egregious and illegal downing of flight PS752.”

On January 8, 2020, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shot down the plane shortly after take off from Tehran, killing all 176 passengers and crew aboard.

Fifty-five Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents were killed in the disaster.

The final report from Iran’s civil aviation body blamed “human error” for the incident, claiming a missile operator mistook the airliner as a “hostile target” amid rising tensions with the US. Told, and fired without obtaining approval from a superior – a report criticized by victims’ families around the world.

The aircraft was destroyed after being hit by two missiles fired 30 seconds apart.

Among the Canadian victims were doctors, dentists, academics, a six-year-old child and a newly married couple.
