Thousands on the streets of Sao Paulo for the 26th Gay Pride Parade after two years of virtual events

After two years of virtual events, thousands of people took to the streets of Sao Paulo for the 26th Gay Pride Parade coronavirus,

This year the Pride March was called Vote With Pride and was back in full swing in the Brazilian city.

Claudia Garcia, President LGBT The charity running the parade said: ‘After two years without in-person editions, it is a great pleasure to return to the streets and reaffirm our responsibility to the public to support representatives committed to a more just and egalitarian cause. ‘That’s why in our campaign we support the need to focus on the upcoming elections.’

Organizers said: ‘In its 26th edition, So Paulo’s LGBT+ Pride Parade is back in defense of a fundamental theme: Vote with pride – for the policy you represent.

‘This event takes place on June 19 and reaffirms our commitment to the fight against discrimination of any kind, in addition to respecting diversity and building positive policies for the LGBT+ population.’

Although same-sex marriage has been legal in the country since 2013, there are few laws that protect the LGBT community.

People also face negativity and Brazil has one of the highest LGBT murder rates in the world.

The Pride March of So Paulo is the largest in the world with millions of people visiting each year.

The city is also home to the largest gay club in America called The Week.
