Ms Edwards was shot at the Lighthouse pub in the village of Wallasey in Wirral, minutes before Christmas Day.

Connor Chapman appeared via videolink at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, charged with nine counts including murder. He is due to stand trial in June.

Ahead of Ms Edwards’ funeral next week, her father remembered her as a ‘lovely and caring’ person and said he would never be able to celebrate Christmas again after she died.

They told sky News: ‘She’s the type of person who walked into a room and everyone was drawn to her because she was always smiling.

‘She was beautiful to look at and she was a great hugger. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold.

He said, “There are no winners in gun crime… If you pick up a gun, your future is over and everyone around you’s future is over.” It’s that simple. This is absolutely pointless and does not solve anything.

Ms Edwards’ funeral will take place in her hometown on January 25, with hundreds of people expected to attend to pay their respects.

A trial date for Chapman has been set for June 7, with the case expected to last three to four weeks.

He has also been charged with the attempted murder of Jake Duffy and Kieran Salkeld and three counts of grievous bodily harm to Harry Loughran, Nicholas Speed ​​and Liam Carr.

The suspect has also been charged with possessing a Scorpion submachine gun and ammunition with intent to endanger life on Christmas Eve and handling a Mercedes A Class vehicle stolen goods between 22 December and Boxing Day.
