Subhash Chandra Bose’s death anniversary: What happened a day before Netaji’s death – Bharat Times Hindi News

Subhas Chandra Bose Death Anniversary: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a fiery personality and a prominent leader in India’s struggle for independence from the British. Even decades after his death, no definite and unambiguous answer has yet been found as to how he died.

On the morning of 17 August 1945, Subhas Chandra Bose arrived in Saigon from Bangkok with his cabinet colleagues and senior Japanese officials. World War II had ended and Japan announced its formal surrender to the Allies. At that time Netaji had two options. Either hand over the fate of India to the British government or fulfill its mission and free India from the Raj.

Netaji wanted to go to the Soviet Union with all his comrades in search of a safe place. Japanese Field Marshal Terauchi made a foolproof plan to take Bose to the Soviet Union. General Isoda of the Japanese Army was to carry out this “secret plan”. Netaji told Isoda that some of his officers needed to accompany him on his journey as the main objective of the mission was to continue the struggle for India’s independence and not just hide.

The plane with 11 Japanese, Netaji and their treasure box took off from Taurane at sunrise on 18 August and reached Taihoku in the afternoon. Gasoline was filled to the capacity of the aircraft. The team was on its way to Darien in Manchuria to release Lieutenant General Shidei of the Japanese Army. Netaji agreed to accompany Shidei to Mukden (Shenyang), the capital of the Manchuria region of China. The plane took off at around 2-2:30 pm.

As the plane was flying in the air, at an altitude of about 20-30, an explosion was heard followed by three or four loud bangs. The plane fell with Netaji. The plane’s left-side propeller collapsed. The plane broke into two pieces when it hit a concrete runway and crashed.
