SC dismisses applications of telecom companies alleging errors in calculation of AGR dues

New Delhi, 23 July

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed applications filed by telecom majors including Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, raising the issue of alleged errors in the figure of dues relating to adjusted gross revenue (AGR) payable by them.

“All miscellaneous applications are dismissed,” a bench headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao said while pronouncing the order.

Telecom companies had submitted before the apex court that arithmetical errors in calculations be corrected and there are cases of duplication of entries.

The top court had on July 19 said it would pass orders on applications filed by telecom companies.

The apex court in September last year had given 10 years to the telecom service providers, who are struggling to clear AGR-related dues of Rs 93,520 crore, to the government to clear their dues. PTI
