Padraig Harrington on seeing LIV golfers at events: ‘A bit like Christmas dinner’

Padraig Harrington, Open Championship twice and once PGA Championship WinnerWhen it comes to jumpers in LIV Golf, he is more than willing to let go of the past.

Harrington spoke to reporters at JP McManus Pro-Am and said he felt there was room for “a lot of rounds and a lot of competition” in the world of golf. He said that LIV can be good for the golf game – one of the few golfers who has come out and actually said so.

“At the moment, there is disruption, no doubt, but disruption is not bad at times,” said the 50-year-old Irishman, via Golf.com, “It looks at the moment like I said, the PGA Tour looks like they’ve solidified their position and the European Tour is consolidating their position. I think there’s a lot of room and time will tell.”

Harrington described being with some of his people Ryder Cup Teammates Joe jumped into LIV Golf to go for a holiday dinner with family members with different political views.

“Being here is like Christmas dinner or Thanksgiving for your family. You can have siblings sitting there and — we’ll Americanize it: You can be a Republican; they can be a Democrat, but you’re friends at that. Special times, and perhaps politics are not mentioned at the dinner table,” he said. “We’ve been here for two days, and it’s great to see.”
