The Centre’s decision to extend the BSF’s jurisdiction in Punjab with that of other states has triggered a war of words between former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Minister of State Pargat Singh.

Pargat Singh slammed the former chief minister, who on Wednesday extended his support for the Centre’s move and said it will “only make us stronger”.

Hitting out at Pargat Singh, Captain Amarinder Singh accused him and Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu of “making up ridiculous stories for cheap publicity”.

“This is the extent of irresponsibility of a state minister. You and @serryontopp are clearly birds of the same feather, who have nothing better to do than cook up ridiculous stories for cheap publicity, tweeted Raveen Thukral, media advisor to Captain Amarinder, on behalf of the former CM.

Describing Amarinder Singh’s statement as unfortunate, Pargat Singh had said, “He acts as if he is with the BJP”.

With this order Pargat Singh claimed that half of Punjab would come under the control of BSF.

He alleged that the Center “later wants to show Punjab as a disturbed state and insists on imposition of Governor’s rule”. with agency input
