Lakhimpur Kheri: Union minister’s son Ashish Mishra contracts dengue

Lakhimpur Kheri, October 24

Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra, who is in jail in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, has contracted dengue. A senior police officer gave this information on Sunday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arun Kumar Singh said that Ashish Mishra, who was taken on police remand, was sent back to the district jail for treatment on Saturday evening.

Ashish Mishra along with three others was taken into police custody for two days on Friday evening for further questioning.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the violence that broke out during a farmers’ protest at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on October 3.

So far 13 people including Mishra have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The three accused Mohit Trivedi, Rinku Rana and Dharmendra, who were arrested on Saturday, were produced before the magistrate in the evening. Investigators applied for his 14-day police custody remand. The application will be heard on Monday. – PTI
