Noida, June 15
A factory manufacturing fake ‘Surf Excel’ detergent powder was busted in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida and one person was arrested in connection with the case, police said on Wednesday.
He told that the unit located in Site-5 area of Greater Noida was busted by the Kasna police on Tuesday.
Officials said that 50 kg of raw material and a chemical in the same quantity were seized, apart from over 10,000 pouches weighing 80 grams labeled with Hindustan Unilever’s Surf Excel brand and over 32,000 unprinted pouches of similar size.
A police spokesperson said, “Illegal counterfeit detergent manufacturing unit was detected in Greater Noida’s Site-5 area on Tuesday and it was busted by the local police station team along with officials representing Hindustan Unilever from Gurugram in Haryana. was.”
The spokesman said wrapping paper, a bag closing machine, weighing scales and other equipment were also seized from the unit.
He said that Pawan Kumar, a resident of Loni area of Ghaziabad district, was also arrested from the spot.
Police said an FIR has been registered at Kasna police station under the Copyright Act and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
