Lahore: PTI leader Fayaz-ul-Hasan Chauhan on Monday claimed that former President and PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari has joined another “important personality” from Pakistan on his visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Chouhan further said that the former President was being persuaded to hold early elections. He said that the co-chairman of the PPP would be persuaded in view of the prevailing circumstances.

Significantly, PTI is demanding immediate elections. The alliance, on the other hand, wants to complete its term.

On Saturday, news surfaced citing the possibility of elections in Pakistan being held by October after attempts at “soft intervention” between the government and the opposition.

Political instability has deepened since the by-elections held in Punjab on July 17, which has also adversely affected the country’s economy. Therefore, the establishment is considering to persuade the politicians to hold talks, sources said.

However, politicians will take a final call regarding this potential proposal.

Chauhan’s claim came after former President Zardari flew to Dubai via an international airline, after which “Dubai” became a top trend on social media. Considering the ongoing political turmoil in the country, netizens expressed surprise over his visit.

Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari, daughter of PPP co-chair, reacted to the news that surfaced after her father’s visit.

“To clear up the confusion – my father will be spending his 67th birthday (and first as a grandfather) with his 9-month-old grandson. Bakhtawar wrote in his tweet in response to speculation about his father’s visit,” That’s all he deserves – so he can postpone the recession when he’s back in less than a week.”
