Woman ‘raped’ in metro bus underpass in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: A woman was allegedly harassed and raped by a university student at the underpass of a Metro bus station in Rehmanabad on Tuesday.

A Police Investigating Officer (IO) said the suspect, who was studying Information Technology (IT) in a university, was taken into custody by the police soon after the FIR was registered.

The IO said that the police visited the spot.

The victim, a resident of Lahore, complained to the New Town police that she informed her brother about a job in a boys’ hostel, which was advertised on the suspect’s Facebook account.

She said that her brother approached her, after which she went to Rawalpindi with her aunt.

The victim told that on reaching the hostel, the accused forcibly took her to a room of a boy’s hostel, where he started slapping her and locked the door from inside. Later, she said that she was taken to the underpass and raped.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital for a medical examination, though DNA tests would be conducted on both the victim and the suspect.
