The 68th Nationwide Movie Awards has been started by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 22nd July. A ten-member jury led by filmmaker Vipul Shah announced the winner for 12 months 2020. Tulu film Jeetage starring Santosh Mada won the award for this award. Best Tulu Movie.

Jeetge believes in true occasions when the pandemic affected the world. It revolves around Daivaradhan Pathri (soul worshiper) on his way to his son’s return home. The son working on the ship is stuck due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Korga spirit was worshiped by Naveen D Patil, who almost gave up the practice due to not getting much money. He returned to Kola Kattuvike (worshipper’s position), wishing that his son would return home safely.

The engaging film, which has been critically acclaimed, is directed by Santosh Mada. Born and brought up in Mangalore, he is now settled in Udayavara, Kerala. However, not many would know that Santhosh is the son-in-law of the famous Malayalam lyricist Kaithaparam Damodaran Namboothiri.

Who stole the hearts of the audience with his wonderfully written sentences through songs. Santosh has worked as an assistant director under filmmaker Jayaraj. He has worked with Abhaya Simha in the movie Shikari.

Speaking to The Hindu, Santosh Mada has said that being a Mangalorean, he had to showcase the rich cultural heritage, sentiments, worship and similar issues of the region through the film. He further said that ever since the pandemic started and the world went into lockdown, he found more than 100 Indian sailors stranded on a ship near Japan and this inspired him to make a film on it.

Naveen D Patil played the lead role in the film. The film is supported by Arun Rai Thodar.

The award is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is notable as it is one of the most prestigious awards conferred by Indian authorities in the field of cinema.
