WHO declares monkeypox a global health emergency – National | Globalnews.ca

The monkeypox outbreak is now viewed as a public health emergency of international concern. World Health Organization (WHO) announced this in a virtual press conference on Saturday.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the decision comes as monkeypox Outbreaks have met “five criteria in the International Health Regulations” that determine whether an outbreak constitutes a global health emergency.
