London, Ontario, Ward 1 Councilor Michael Van Holstow He is seeking re-election after announcing he was willing to run for mayor.

Last month, Van Holst posed a question on his website in a post titled, “Will you help Michael run for mayor in 2022?”

At the time, Van Holst had not formally filed his application with the city, noting on his website, “I want to see if we can put together a viable campaign to go after the mayor’s seat.” can.”

As of Monday, Van Holst’s name had not appeared in list of mayor candidatesBut in the list of candidates of Ward 1.

The two-time councilor was first elected in 2014.

An investigation was launched by Commissioner Gregory Stewart in October 2021 after Van Holst spoke on an adversary based on formal complaints filed by Mayor Ed Holder and other residents.COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate Rally.

As well as referencing the October 2021 rally, Stewart’s report also refers to the creation of Van Holst’s Order of Freedom, a cult that aims to provide exemptions for vaccine mandates and proof-of-vaccination policies.

Till Monday, there were five candidates for the mayor and six for ward one.
