United States Football League handed out their league awards on Wednesday after last weekend’s regular season ended.
The league revealed its MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year about a week later. Announce Your All-USFL Team,
The New Jersey Generals had three members of the organization win awards.
Wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was named USFL MVP. He led the Generals 9-1 with 44 catches for 540 yards and four touchdowns. He led the league in receiving yards and finished second behind Houston Gamblers receiver Isaiah Zuber in touchdown receptions.
Turpin’s teammate, Darius Victor, also took home some of the hardware, leaving behind. He was named Offensive Player of the Year in the USFL after finishing with nine rushing touchdowns and 577 yards.
Generals coach Mike Riley was named Coach of the Year after the team scored nine consecutive victories after the team’s loss.OS for Birmingham Stallion in week 1.
Gamblers defensive end Chris Odom was selected as Defensive Player of the Year. He led the league with 12.5 sacks. He also made 41 tackles, made eight tackles for a loss and forced six fumbles.
New Jersey will try to ride the wave of prizes in the playoffs. The Generals will face the Philadelphia Stars on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET in Canton, Ohio.
