Muzaffarnagar, January 15
Samajwadi Party MLA from Kairana assembly constituency Nahid Hasan was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a special court on Saturday after police arrested him, officials said.
Earlier, the police had implemented a strict Gangster Act against Hasan.
The MLA was produced before a special MP/MLA court at Kairana in Shamli district where Judge Subodh Singh sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
SHO Anil Kaparvan of Kairana police station said that last year a case was registered against 40 people including Hasan. While most of the accused were released on bail, Hasan failed to surrender in the court, following which a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.
SP has fielded Hasan from Kairana assembly constituency. PTI
