Journeyman outfielder Raimel Tapia came to the plate with 2 outs at the top of the third inning of Friday’s Blue Jays-Red Sox matchup at Fenway Park.
The Jays had already taken a 6-0 lead, but with the bases loaded there was an opportunity for even more.
Tapia tosses a pop fly towards the middle fields, and dismayed at an easy out, throws the bat.

Instead, Red Sox center fielder Jaren Duran immediately lost sight of the ball, and chaos ensued:
Tapia raced around the bases and defeated the throw with ease, resulting in an incredibly rare in-the-park Grand Slam.
