Telangana: Active Covid cases cross 20,000 mark for first time since second wave – India Times English News

Hyderabad: Telangana now has 20,462 active COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 7,02,801. On Thursday, the state recorded 2,707 cases of Covid-19 with 84,280 tests.

582 people were cured during the day.

Even though the vaccination numbers are encouraging, with 5 crore doses administered as of Thursday, The active caseload in Telangana is increasing at a very high rate.

The number of active cases in the state has crossed 20,000 at 20,462 for the first time since the second wave.

Health Minister Harish Rao said Telangana has so far given 5 crore doses of Kovid vaccines, with 1 crore people getting their shots in the last 35 days alone. Till Thursday, the state had given 2.93 crore first doses, 2.06 crore second doses and 1.13 lakh precautionary doses. In the 15-17 years of care started this year, 8.67 lakh doses (47%) have been given.

Harish Rao said the first dose target has been exceeded by about 103 per cent.

He congratulated the Panchayat, Municipal Corporation and medical personnel working continuously to achieve the target of vaccination. He said that Telangana has already set a record as the first major state to complete 100 per cent of the first dose of vaccination.

The government has advised everyone to take their two doses of the vaccine, wear a mask as a duty, and wash hands frequently.
