South African authorities were investigating the deaths of 22 youth, some as young as 14, whose bodies were found on Sunday morning at a settlement inn near the coastal city of east London.
Parents and relatives gathered near Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park Township, seeking answers about what happened to their children. Police and local officials said they were still investigating how most of the teenage victims found inside the tavern in the early hours of Sunday died.
