So far 45 arrested for corruption in Punjab

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has so far arrested 45 officials and politicians on corruption charges. “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, from the very first day of assuming office, promised a corruption-free, transparent and clean administration to the people, for which several initiatives have been taken,” the statement said. He had issued an anti-corruption helpline number against corruption to facilitate people to register their complaints through WhatsApp. This helpline has worked wonders as people are using it as an effective tool in their war against corruption.

Based on such genuine complaints, Punjab Police has registered 28 FIRs against corrupt officials/officials and other criminals. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Vigilance Bureau has so far arrested one police sub-inspector, eight assistant sub-inspectors, three head constables, one constable, one police home guard, two patwaris, one clerk and one lambardar, one data entry. Director of Punjab School Education Board, a Principal of Government ITI, a Medical Officer, a Divisional Forest Officer and a member of the Summons Server staff in the Judicial Department. Similarly, 17 civilians, four assistants of patwaris and a forest contractor have also been arrested for corrupt practices in a mining case. Till June 21, the police have arrested a total of 45 people on corruption charges.

During this, the Chief Minister said that this is just the beginning and from this the entire system will be cleaned by ousting the corrupt officers/employees. He said that no stone would be left unturned in removing the menace of corruption from the system to provide clean, efficient and transparent government to the people. Mann said that people have given him a huge responsibility and he is bound to fulfill the aspirations of the people by giving them clean, transparent and accountable administration.

The Chief Minister said that this unprecedented action indicates the commitment of the State Government to provide clean and corruption free administration to the people. He said that this war against corruption will end only when this menace is completely eliminated from the state, for which active support of the people is necessary. Seeking full cooperation from the people in this noble cause, Mann called upon the people to come forward and help the state government to make Punjab a corruption free state.
