Shares fall as banks give quarterly updates

US stocks fell for the start of the week as investors contemplate another set of earnings reports from major companies and await a slate of key central bank meetings.

The stock was in the green for most of Monday’s session before turning lower in the afternoon. The S&P 500 closed 32.31 points, or 0.8%, down at 3830.85. comprehensive index Friday ended high, breaking the losing streak of five days. The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 215.65 points, or 0.7%, down at 31072.61.
