Senior IPS officer Dinkar Gupta appointed as NIA chief

Senior IPS officer Dinkar Gupta was on Thursday appointed as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a Personnel Ministry order said.

Gupta is a 1987 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Punjab cadre.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Gupta as Director General of NIA till March 31, 2024, i.e. the date of his retirement.

In another order, Swagat Das was appointed as Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Das, a 1987 batch IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, is currently the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau.

The order said that Das has been appointed to the post till November 30, 2024, which is the date of his retirement.
