Rockies’ Brenton Doyle carted off the field after colliding with wall in attempt to rob 9th-inning home run

colorado rockies Rookie Brenton Doyle was carried off the field during Thursday night̵7;s game against the Miami Marlins after he collided with the center field wall while nearly robbing Jorge Soler’s home run.

Doyle, 25, likely suffered a knee injury in the ninth inning when he made contact with the wall in an attempt to try and save Soler’s home run. Rockies lead 6–2.

“The ligaments are fine. It doesn’t feel good, but it’s good news,” Doyle said after the game. “I’m not sure about the IL stent or not. But it will probably take a few days to feel better.”

Doyle had the ball in his glove when it came out after hitting the wall.

He fell to the ground and immediately moaned in pain. Doyle clutched his right knee as teammates and trainers came to him.

He was eventually helped but was carried off the field.

“We’ll know more (after imaging on Friday) how it sets up, but we’re hoping it’s about the same as the injury that happened in Albuquerque three weeks ago,” manager Bud Black said via The Denver Post.

“When Soler hit it, I didn’t think he got it, but Doyle got a great jump on it and initially, I thought he caught it. When I saw him go down, we all gasped, and from that point you just cross your fingers.”

Doyle said that despite the injury, he plans to continue playing in the same way.

“I’m true to my word, so maybe eventually I’ll do it again. I’m 100% out there and I want to track everything I can.”

Rockies gave up a four-run lead marlins spot to tie it up in the ninth inning, but Ezequiel Tovar gave Colorado the win with a walk-off single.
