Result to fill up Group-C posts announced, Tripura govt says 430 positions still vacant due to ‘lack of eligible candidates’

Three years after the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) conducted examinations to fill up vacant posts, the state government Wednesday announced a list of selected candidates for 1,980 Group-C posts.

After the announcement of the results, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha congratulated the candidates and wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “My heartfelt congratulations to all the aspirants who have qualified the JRBT-conducted examination for Group-C posts. I wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.”

Meanwhile, the government said the merit list is still short of candidates for 430 posts in the PWD and ex-servicemen categories (non-gazetted) due to non-availability of eligible candidates.

Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy on Thursday said, “Posts like pump operators, for divyangjan and ex-servicemen and others could not be filled up due to non-availability of eligible candidates.” Roy added that the viva examinations for the Group D posts in various departments would be conducted at the earliest.

Former education minister Ratan Lal Nath said advertisements to fill up a total of 2,410 Group C posts of which the JRBT recommended 1,980 candidates for the different departments were issued.

On December 1 last year, 2,400 candidates had qualified for various Group C and D posts. The exams were conducted to fill up 2,410 and 2,500 Group C and D posts, respectively.

Sushanta Chowdhury, who served as minister for Information and Cultural Affairs in the previous government, had earlier in April said, “Results of the Group C were announced based on a 1:3 ratio while for Group D, it was 1:6. Declaration of the results were delayed as it was a sub judice matter and the court gave a stay order on the issue. But the officials worked in a transparent way to finally declare the results.”
