Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu will be given farewell in the House along with the Prime Minister on Monday Narendra Modi and other top leaders were present.

Naidu will step down on Wednesday and his successor Jagdeep Dhankhar will take oath on August 11.

Sources said that there will be no sitting of the House on Tuesday and Thursday due to Muharram and Raksha Bandhan. He said that there would be another farewell ceremony for Naidu at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium on Monday evening on behalf of all the members of the House.

He said the Prime Minister would present a memento to Naidu while the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha would deliver a farewell speech. A publication of Naidu’s tenure as Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha will be released by the Prime Minister. After that there will be dinner.

Dhankhar met Naidu here on Sunday, a day after he was declared elected as the 14th Vice President. Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh were received by Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu at the Vice-President’s residence.

Naidu presented ‘Anga Vastram’ to his successor. Sources said their meeting lasted over 30 minutes and later Naidu visited Dhankhar’s residence and secretariat.

Naidu also introduced Dhankhar to the employees of the Secretariat.
