Raj Kundra to be produced in Mumbai Court today; Police say businessman ‘key conspirator’

Mumbai, July 20

Mumbai Police will produce arrested businessman Raj Kundra (husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty) in a court this afternoon, official sources said here on Tuesday.

In a sensational move, the Mumbai Police arrested Kundra late on Monday night for allegedly creating and publishing obscene material and publishing it through mobile applications.

The shocking action was announced by Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale himself on the basis of a case registered in February.

Since then, 46-year-old Kundra—a British-Indian businessman—was under the scanner of the Crime Branch-CID before the police’s dramatic move last night.

The sudden arrest stunned Bollywood, which has been on the radar for drug investigations for the past one year.

Official sources say investigators have recovered some incriminating material, while the role of other known and unknown persons in the entire racket is also being probed.

Nagrale said, “A case was registered in the crime branch about making obscene films and publishing them through certain apps. We have arrested Raj Kundra in this case as he appears to be the main conspirator.”

“We have enough evidence in this regard. Further investigation is on,” the police chief said. — IANS
