Pune: Youth met online with 12-year-old boy sexually assaulted, FIR registered

A 12-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man who came in contact through online chat rooms and phone messenger applications.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police has launched a search operation for the alleged sexual predator who was using false identity for his online activities.
One FIR The victim’s mother, who is a schoolgirl, has registered a case at Bhosari MIDC police station.

According to the FIR, the boy had come in contact with a person identified as Chacha (Uncle) on an internet-based chatting platform on March 8. Communication between the two continued over a phone-based messenger service.

On March 9, the man came to meet the boy at his house when his family members were not at home. Police said that the man then sexually assaulted the boy. A few days later, the boy’s parents approached the police following which an FIR was lodged late on Monday night and a search was launched.

Senior Inspector Shivaji Gaware, in-charge of Bhosari MIDC police station, said his team was working on available leads to identify and trace the suspect.

The FIR has been registered under Section 377 of the IPC and Sections 3, 4, 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
