Pune: Massive fire breaks out at furniture storage facility, no casualties

A massive fire broke out at a furniture storage facility in Pune’s Gangadham area on Monday night. No casualties have been reported in the fire.

Pune Fire Brigade officials said the fire broke out between 8.30 pm and 8.40 pm, in a cluster of tin sheds containing wood and other types of furniture.

Keeping in view the intensity of the fire, 14 fire tenders were sent to the spot from several fire stations.
Pune Chief Fire Officer Prashant Ranpise said, “The intensity of the fire had increased due to the storage of large quantities of various items along with wooden furniture and furniture. No one was inside the warehouse when the fire broke out. We have deployed 14 fire tenders.”

The fire was brought under control by 10.20 pm, officials said.

The cooling operation continued for some time when water was sprinkled to avoid another fire, officials said.
