Following protests by COVID warriors, Medical Education Minister Raj Kumar Verka had to leave midway during his scheduled program here on Friday.

The minister was here to inaugurate various development projects in the Government Medical College and Hospital.

After inaugurating the projects at the medical college, when the minister went to the hospital, the protesters got in the way and closed both the gates where they were to inaugurate multi-level parking, an oxygen plant and a catheterization lab.

Some of the protesters climbed on top of the multi-level parking building.

The minister, who was accompanied by Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, said the government was already in the process of giving jobs to the protesters.

“The file regarding his appointments has already reached the finance department. He will be back to work in a day or two,” the minister claimed.

Meanwhile, the protesters demanded that they be given jobs immediately. He said he was hired last year after the outbreak of the Covid pandemic and worked during both the Covid waves.
