Former Representative Joe Cunningham, DS.C., said Thursday on CNN’s “New Day” that President Biden must retire, assuming he is too old to run for re-election.

Cunningham previously put out a campaign video attacking politicians who “go beyond their prime”, including President Biden.

“But have you ever noticed that politicians rarely retire? Our country and our state are run by an aging oligarchy,” Cunningham said in the ad.

CNN co-host John Berman asked Cunningham to clarify whether he believes President Biden, who will turn 80 in the fall, is too old for his position.

Former Democratic lawmaker said, attacking Biden strictly over age, sharpness will not work

“I think what people hate about politics and politicians is inconsistency. And hypocrisy. And, you know, we look at the White House, and look at President Biden, wondering what the future is going to look like. and a new generation of leadership. And, look, if President Biden was here with me right now and asked my opinion whether or not he should run for another term, or whether he should step aside and look at a new line of leadership. The new generation must be allowed to emerge, I would tell them the latter, Cunningham said.

“You think Joe Biden is too old to run for re-election, is that what you’re saying?” Burman asked.

“Yes,” replied Cunningham. “I think we need a new generation of leadership to emerge.”

He later explained, “I think we need a new vision, a new leadership, and it’s not about Biden being personal, but by the time of the next election he will be 82. If he completes a second term, So he’d be 86. I’m not sure any of us know any 86-year-old who should be running the whole country.”

Although Cunningham pointed to his Republican rival, Governor Henry McMaster, who is 75, as an example, he also acknowledged Rape. Jim Clyburn, D.Sc., Joe is 81, as another politician who must retire after Burman’s upbringing.

“I appreciate their service [Clyburn] And what they have done for our country and it is nothing personal. I’m fine with him. But as we look to the future, we have to seek to provide a new vision,” Cunningham said.
