President Arif Alvi on Tuesday issued an ordinance for the Rahmatul-l-Almeen authority.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced the government’s intention to set up the authority, for which the premier would be the chief patron.
The announcement was made during the Rahmatul-Lil-Alameen conference in Islamabad to mark the beginning of the celebration of the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The authority will ensure the implementation of the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the society, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said.
He said the government has started looking for a chairperson, who will be a top scholar, to head the authority.
PM Imran Khan said that the authority will monitor the curriculum being taught in schools and conduct research in universities regarding the true message of Islam in the light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He stressed the need for research on Muslim heroes.
He said that a cartoon series will also be made to introduce our children to Islamic culture. He said that Islam has its own cultural values which should be taught to our children to save them from evils like sex crimes.
He said the authority would be vigilant to prevent any blasphemous material from being shared on the media and portraying the real picture of Islam.
The Rahmatul-Lil-Alameen Authority will consist of seven members, including a chairman, who will be appointed by the prime minister.
