Karachi: Weather turned pleasant in Karachi as parts of the port city received light pre-monsoon rains in the early hours of Saturday.

Areas that received rain include Sadar, Second Chandrigar Road, Old City and other areas.

According to the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), intermittent light rain or drizzle is likely over the city during the next three days.

Meanwhile, following the pre-monsoon rain forecast by the PMD, various areas of the country have already started receiving heavy to moderate rains.

Reports were also received last night in Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Shikhupura, Kamalia and Nasirabad.

At the same time, there is a possibility of more rain in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

In its daily weather forecast, PMD said that rain-wind/thundershowers with partly cloudy sky are likely to occur over Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Northeast Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir today.

However, it further said that “heavy downpours and hailstorms” may also occur at some places during this period, leading to hot and dry weather in other parts of the country.

There is a possibility of rain in Karachi tonight, the Met Office said. In the port city, winds are blowing from the south-west at a speed of 18 km/h. The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be between 29 degree Celsius and 36 degree Celsius. Whereas on Saturday morning the humidity level in the city stood at 79 per cent.
