A day later an investigation was launched Alleged “secret meeting” Between former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and sacked policeman Sachin Waje, Mumbai Police on Tuesday sent a default report to Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner and took disciplinary action against four policemen who took them from Taloja Jail to Old Secretariat in Navi Mumbai. advised to do. Building annex in the fort, where the proceedings of the Chandiwal Commission are going on.

Hours after their meeting on Monday, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil had directed Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale to investigate the incident, and an Assistant Commissioner of Police (Colaba Division) was assigned to investigate.
Confirming the development, a senior IPS officer said, “We conducted a preliminary inquiry into the incident, after which the report was submitted to the police commissioner concerned. Now they will decide on the punishment as four policemen including a police sub-inspector are posted in that jurisdiction.”

The meeting between Vaze and Singh reportedly took place in the room adjacent to the commission’s hearing. Their alleged meeting lasted for a while while four of Waze’s escorting policemen stood outside the room.

During interrogation, Mumbai Police officials recorded the statement of Police Sub-Inspector Shivaji Patil, who was leading the escorting team from Taloja Jail, while they were visiting the commission’s premises to ascertain facts. After this, a report was prepared and submitted to the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate in the early hours of Tuesday.

In the default report, the Mumbai Police advised the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner to take disciplinary action against the four policemen for allowing an undertrial accused to speak to Singh.

An officer supervising the investigation said, “These escorting policemen were given the task of taking Waze to the commission. According to the mandate, they should not allow any accused under trial to talk to anyone. Similarly he should have ensured that Waze did not speak to anyone without the prior permission of the judge, rather he met Singh in a room and spoke to him in front of him.

Calling it a big lapse on their part, another officer said, “They could have easily intervened and instructed Vaze not to speak to Singh. And if they want to negotiate, they should have requested Waze to get permission from the court. Because both of them have several cases of extortion registered against them and they could have spoken about anything that could have hindered the investigation of those cases.

The Mumbai Police claims that they suggested the Navi Mumbai Police to conduct an independent investigation before taking any action against them.
Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Bipin Kumar Singh said, “We have received a report from Mumbai Police and a Deputy Commissioner of Police is investigating against them. Based on its findings, we will take action against them.”
