Police recover bodies from Lake Ontario near Kingston Downtown – Kingston | Globalnews.ca

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery team recovered the body of a man from Lake Ontario on Tuesday night.

“The investigation will continue to determine the identity of this person and the next of kin will be informed later. Police do not suspect any malpractice in connection with this incident,” read a statement from Kingston Police.

Origin Story:

Kingston Police are working with several other emergency services in an effort to locate a man seen in Lake Ontario near the city of Kingston on Monday night.

According to an eyewitness, a fully clothed man with a beard was seen jumping into the water at Brock Dock, known as Crawford Wharf.

The man was then seen swimming about 100 feet from shore, and a witness and two others attempted to rescue the man on a docked ship.

Witnesses lost sight of the man before reaching his place in the water and were unable to locate him.

The Coast Guard also searched for the man and was unsuccessful, as did the Kingston Police Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery team is about to do a search.

Police say that there is no possibility of disturbance.
