Along with two resignations, six corporators have resigned from the party in the past three weeks. Both are likely to join the NCP, which is claiming that 25 BJP corporators will join the party. The BJP, on the other hand, has claimed that at least 12-13 NCP councilors will join the party.

Ravi Landge was elected from Bhosari constituency in the 2017 civic polls. His eyes were on the post of Standing Committee Chairman. However, the BJP has chosen another councilor from Bhosari, Nitin Landge, over him. Since then Landge was angry and was with the NCP leaders since then.

Sanjay Nevale was elected on a BJP ticket in the 2017 elections. He had served as the chairman of the sports committee of PCMC. Apparently he was angry with the party for not giving him another important post.

The BJP said though it was a setback for them, they had options available to them.

BJP’s PCMC house leader Namdev Dhake said, “If some councilors are leaving the party, we are going to organize a single function to welcome more than 12-13 councillors.”
