Physical classes in Delhi schools, colleges to resume from November 29

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Wednesday that physical classes in schools, colleges and other educational institutions will resume from November 29, suspended due to high levels of pollution.

He said that all government offices will open from Monday. Rai urged the government employees to use public transport and said that special buses would be deployed for them.

The minister said that from November 27, only CNG and electric vehicles would be allowed to enter Delhi except those engaged in essential services.

After a review meeting with senior officials, he said the ban on entry of other fuel-powered vehicles would remain in place till December 3.

The Delhi government on Monday lifted the ban on construction and demolition activities in view of the improvement in air quality and inconvenience caused to workers.

On 13 November, the city government ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Delhi due to high air pollution levels. PTI
