Palestine shells by soldiers near Bethlehem – IDF – Bharat Times Hindi News

Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man who threw Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles outside Bethlehem in the southern West Bank on Thursday night, the military said.

According to a spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces, soldiers opened fire on two suspects, who were targeting Israeli cars passing near the village of Beit Jala.

One of the accused died due to bullet injuries and after first aid he died on the spot. The second person was arrested by the soldiers.

No Israeli soldier or civilian was injured in the incident.

Israeli soldiers found a Hamas flag at a lookout point where suspects had reportedly thrown firebombs.

Beit Jala, sandwiched between Jerusalem and Bethlehem, sits above Route 60, a main traffic artery crossing the West Bank that connects the capital to the Etzion Settlement Block and Hebron.

The shooting comes nearly 24 hours after a border police officer was seriously injured in an apparent car collision near the Kalandia checkpoint, north of Jerusalem.

The hospital said the 20-year-old officer was taken to Shere Zedek Medical in Jerusalem with minor injuries, but his condition worsened overnight but was stable.

Police said the attack happened when soldiers were working to move illegal structures built in an area near a West Bank crossing.

The suspect was arrested at the site of the collision and transferred to the custody of the Shin Bet Security Service for questioning.
