The Mohali administration on Monday claimed that they were making all possible efforts to ensure smooth procurement of paddy at all the centers under their jurisdiction after heavy rains lashed the district on Saturday night.
Mohali Deputy Commissioner (DC) Isha Kalia said waterlogging has already been cleared at five procurement centers in Kharar and arrangements are being made at other centers as well.
Kalia assured the farmers to get proper compensation for the damage caused to the standing paddy crop due to unseasonal rains and said that the administration has made proper procurement arrangements across the district. He claimed that most of the procurement centers in the district were functioning normally, with a handful of such centers located in secluded places facing problems due to rain waterlogging.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the farmers to bring dry paddy to the procurement centers and said that the moisture content in the paddy will increase due to the previous rains, but the farmers should bring their crops to the mandis after drying them properly so that they do not have to face any kind of trouble. . He said that tarpaulins and veils have been installed in all the mandis of Mohali and the administration has ensured that farmers do not face any difficulty in selling their crops.
