  • Yogi Adityanath | Asaduddin Owaisi On UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s Population Control Advice

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made a statement on Tuesday regarding the ‘population imbalance’. Now in response to this, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that the people of the Muslim community use contraception the most.

He said- Are Muslims not citizens of the country? If you see the reality, the citizens here are tribal and Dravidian people only. In Uttar Pradesh, the desired fertility rate can be achieved by 2026-2030 without any legislation.

He further said- ‘Even his health minister has said that there is no place for any law to control the population in the country. Muslims are currently using contraception the most. In 2016, the fertility rate in the country was 2.6, which has now come down to 2.3. The population balance in India is one of the best in the world.

Yogi had said – population imbalance should not be allowed
Releasing a report on Monday, the United Nations said that in 2023, India will overtake China to become the most populous country in the world. After this, Yogi Adityanath had said that there is a need to carry forward the population control plan successfully. Along with this, the imbalance of population has to be stopped.

Yogi also said that, ‘It should not happen that the rate or percentage of increase in the population of any one community should be more and we should reduce the population of the original inhabitants of that area through law and information.’

Yogi said that, to control the population, awareness-raising programs have been going on for the last five decades. In a way, population is an achievement for the society, but it will be an achievement only as long as the society is healthy and disease free.

What is the truth of Muslims on family planning?
The issue of Muslim and family planning has been discussed in detail in SY Qureshi’s book ‘The Introduction to the Population Myth’. In this, some facts have been kept on Islam, family planning and Indian politics by quoting studies done in the country.

  • A study has shown that in 1951 the number of Muslims in the country was 9.8 percent and in 2011 it increased to 14.2 percent. At the same time, the number of Hindus has come down from 84 percent to 79.8 percent in the same period.
  • Muslims adopting family planning methods are at the bottom of the list i.e. 45.3%. The shocking fact is that Hindus are at number two in this list. 54.4% of Hindus adopt family planning.
  • Another fact is that Muslims are adopting family planning more rapidly than Hindus. The gap between Hindus and Muslims on this aspect is rapidly narrowing.
  • Family planning programs are being adopted in some Muslim countries like Iran, Egypt, Indonesia and Bangladesh. However, there is no political compulsion to do so here.
