Newcastle United Have signed deals with Bruno Guimaraes and Lyon ahead of the £33m transfer.

The 24-year-old passed his medical while on international duty in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on Saturday and agreed to a four-year contract without a relegation clause.

The fee, which was agreed on Thursday night, includes an additional £6.7m of add-ons. The clubs were formalizing the final details on Saturday evening before making the formal announcement.

Guimaraes will play for Brazil on Wednesday and therefore will not be able to meet his new teammates in the UK until Thursday.

He will be Newcastle’s third signing in the January transfer window after full-back Kieran Trippier and striker Chris Wood, but is seen as a key signing for their new project.
