Mumbai: IPS officer’s wife alleges theft in BEST bus

A 56-year-old housewife has filed a case of theft with Andheri police alleging that her purse was stolen while traveling in BEST bus in Andheri (East) on Wednesday. No arrest has been made so far.

The complainant, a resident of Malabar Hill, is the wife of an IPS officer presently working as Deputy Inspector General in Maharashtra Police. The incident took place between 11.50 am and 12.15 pm on Wednesday when she was returning home from Chakla by BEST bus.

The complainant had opened his bag and took out a small purse to buy railway station tickets. After getting off the bus, he realized that his purse was missing.

The woman reached the bus depot and spoke to an officer who called up the bus conductor to see if her purse was in the bus. But the conductor told that no purse was found after which he approached the Andheri police station and filed a case of theft under IPC section 379.
