Moscow says that the delivery of S-400 missile systems to India has begun

Russia has started delivering the S-400 Triumph surface-to-air missile system to India and the delivery is going according to plan, said Dmitry Shugaev, director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) in Dubai. Sputnik told media outlets ahead of the airshow. ,

The S-400 has already entered service in China and Turkey. Russia and India signed a contract on the delivery of the S-400 in October 2018.

In August, the head of Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, said that talks were underway with seven countries in the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region and Africa on the supply of S-400 air defense systems.

Although the US threatens to impose sanctions on countries that buy major defense systems from Russia, the South Bloc is not bothered here. The announcement by the Russian official comes as a surprise as Moscow has so far indicated that supplies will begin next month, when Russian President Valdimir Putin visits India.

On December 6, the day Putin will meet PM Modi, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold joint 2+2 talks with their counterparts Rajnath Singh and Jaishankar.
