Mohali: Major part of the road from Phase XI to V temporarily opened

The Municipal Corporation (MC) on Friday temporarily opened the road from Spice Chowk to Bawa White House for the convenience of the public. It was said that the work of this road would start again after monsoon and it would be completed by adding premix.

Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu reviewed the ongoing works and said that soon the construction work of the road would be completed.

The Mayor said that to overcome the problem of sewerage choking in Mohali, a long sewerage pipeline has been laid on one side of this road. “This road is now completely open for the public. There is some work left which will be completed after monsoon.

The Mayor further said that he has also come to know that the road is in a dilapidated condition due to rain at some places and it will be repaired by the company (hired by the MC).

He said that this company has a contract with the MC and the maintenance of this road has to be done by the company for the next five years. Sidhu also said that the municipal corporation has spent Rs 10 crore on this road and by installing sewerage pipes, residents of Mohali will not face the problem of sewerage in future.

He also said that in the first phase from Spice Chowk to the Fire Brigade office, the road would be ready by next week and this road would also be opened to the public. The opening of the major stretch of road is expected to ease the traffic congestion on the road leading from Phase VI to Phase XI.
