Minister calls Sarpanchs ‘corrupt’ after investigation, some village heads demand sacking – India Times Hindi News

Sarpanches from parts of Rajasthan started protests here demanding the sacking of Panchayati Raj Minister Ramesh Meena for his alleged remarks. Meanwhile, Meena said that he has uncovered deficiencies in an investigation and action has been taken against officials involved in irregularities in Barmer, Nagaur and Bhilwara. State Secretary of Sarpanch Sangh, Hanuman Choudhary said that the minister had given this statement some time back in Nagaur.

“The allegations against the sarpanches are baseless. We demand his dismissal. We are hurt by the allegations,” he said. In Mansarovar, Jaipur, Sarpanches and Deputy Sarpanches gathered and raised slogans against Meena.

On the other hand, Ramesh Meena told reporters that the quality of the works done in the panchayat is checked and action is taken if irregularities are found.

“I have just highlighted the shortcomings in the work. Action has been taken against the officials where the disturbances were found. Till now no action has been taken against any sarpanch as we want reforms. Some sarpanchs are afraid of investigation, hence such protests are being held,” he said.

He claimed that most of the sarpanch and other public representatives are with the government and the movement is being carried out by a faction.
