Man arrested for allegedly wooing woman on the pretext of job on M-4 motorway near Gojra in Punjab

Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested one of the three suspects registered for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman on the M-4 motorway near Gojra town in Punjab’s Toba Tek Singh district.

The suspects, including two men and a woman, have been booked under sections 365B (abduction or abetment of a woman to compel marriage or illegal intercourse) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), a copy of which . available with don.com, the victim’s aunt told police that her niece had received a message on her mobile phone asking her to reach a location for a job interview at a boutique in Gojra at 2:30 pm on Monday.

The complainant said that when he and his niece reached the spot, the suspects asked to send the victim to Faisalabad for an interview with them.

He said he let his niece travel with him and that two male suspects raped the victim twice, holding her at gunpoint, on the M4 motorway on their way to Faisalabad.

The FIR said that the suspects later dropped the teenager at a secluded place near Faisalabad interchange and fled.

Confirming these details, Mahawar Khan, Acting District Police Office of Toba Tek Singh said that one suspect has been arrested while raids are on to nab the other two suspects.

According to the police, a medical examination of the woman has been done, which has confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. DNA test is also being done.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Punjab IGP have also taken cognizance of the incident and sought a report on the matter from the Faisalabad Regional Police Officer.

This incident is a grim reminder of last year’s Lahore-Sialkot Motorway gang rape case.

In last year’s incident, a woman was gang-raped on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway in front of her children while she was waiting for help after calling the Motorway Police’s helpline 130 when her car broke down. Went.

Earlier this year, an anti-terrorism court sentenced to death Two convicts in the case- Abid Ali Malhi and Shafqat Ali alias Bagga.
