Pune, October 15
Pune Police has issued a lookout circular against KP Gosavi, one of the independent witnesses of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the cruise ship drugs seizure case, a top official said on Wednesday.
Lookout circular is a notice that prohibits a person from leaving the country.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said, “We have issued a lookout circular notice against KP Gosavi, who is absconding in the cheating case registered against him at Farsakhana police station in 2018.
Gosavi is one of nine independent witnesses in a cruise ship raid and alleged seizure of drugs in which Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested earlier this month.
According to the police, Gosavi was booked for allegedly duping a Pune-based man on the pretext of offering him a job in Malaysia.
Chinmoy Deshmukh, who was allegedly duped of Rs 3.09 lakh by Gosavi, had filed a complaint against him. The complaint states that Deshmukh had contacted Gosavi, who had put up an advertisement on social media about certain vacancies in the hotel industry in Malaysia.
An officer of Farsakhana police station said, “While promising a job in Malaysia, Gosavi collectively took Rs 3.09 lakh from him in installments. However, he neither offered him the job nor returned his money.”
A complaint was filed against Gosavi in 2018 under various IPC sections including 420 (cheating) and related sections of the Information Technology Act. PTI
